Large-Scale Extension & Open-Plan Living Space

Job Description

This ambitious project involved the construction of a substantial new extension to a character stone-built rural property, requiring a steel portal frame craned into position to achieve the striking vaulted structure at the heart of the design. The build progressed from ground-up foundations and blockwork through to full roof framing, insulation, and boarding before the external finishes were applied. The completed exterior features two distinct elevations: a front entrance gable clad in dressed sandstone with a full-height glazed apex, creating an impressive, architectural arrival point; and a rear elevation finished in warm-toned composite vertical cladding with black aluminium bi-fold doors and a dramatic angled glazed gable that frames open countryside views. Sandstone paving and a newly laid lawn complete the garden setting.

Inside, the scale and quality of the finish is exceptional. The open-plan kitchen, dining, and living space flows seamlessly across herringbone oak flooring beneath a soaring vaulted ceiling. The kitchen features a large marble-effect quartz island with integrated hob and breakfast bar seating, full-height white shaker cabinetry, and double ovens, all lit by sculptural globe pendant lighting. Beyond the dining area, the living space is defined by the full-height angled glazing at the gable end, which floods the room with natural light and provides an uninterrupted outlook onto the garden and fields beyond, complemented by a pair of Velux skylights overhead. The result is a genuinely remarkable addition that transforms the property whilst respecting its rural setting.
