Two-Storey Side Extension & Refurbishment
Job Description
This project involved the construction of a two-storey side extension to a traditional stone-built property, carefully designed to complement and blend with the character of the original building. The new extension was built using matching natural stone, ensuring a seamless finish that respects the property’s heritage while significantly increasing its footprint. Scaffolding allowed safe construction at height throughout the build, and a full block-paved driveway was laid to the front using warm-toned clay setts with a slate border detail, creating a substantial and smart entrance. A glazed full-height connection was introduced between the original house and the new extension, flooding the linking corridor with natural light and maintaining a clear visual boundary between old and new.
Inside, the finish is to a high specification throughout. The main bathroom features an exposed stone feature wall, a freestanding bath, Velux skylight, dressing table, and gold-toned fittings, creating a genuine spa-like retreat. A separate en-suite was fitted with full-height marble-effect tiling, a vessel basin on a fluted oak vanity unit, walk-in rainfall shower, and brushed brass ironmongery. A third WC was also completed, finished with warm terracotta plaster, patterned tiling, and matching oak and brass fittings. The internal corridors retain exposed stone walls alongside fresh plaster and tiled flooring, striking a confident balance between the building’s original character and its contemporary new additions.
